Job Summary: Early Construction/Engineering professional that provides technical assistance, field documentation, installation verification, and coordination between engineering, project management, and field crews. This role focuses on developing practical field knowledge, understanding electrical systems, ensuring design constructability, and supporting execution. Developing skills in interpreting electrical plans into safe, code-compliant installations
Key Responsibilities:
Technical & Field Support
- Review electrical drawings, one-lines, equipment layouts, and installation details to support field installation.
- Perform basic calculations (cable sizing verification, conduit fill, voltage drop, load checks) under supervision.
- Assist foremen with layout verification, measurements, and identifying installation conflicts.
- Support commissioning activities such as equipment labeling, point-to-point checks, and documentation.
- Verify that installations match design specifications, NEC requirements, and company standards.
Project Documentation
- Updates redline drawings, track revisions, and maintain as-built documentation.
- Prepare and manage daily field reports, inspection logs, and installation progress tracking.
- Assist with RFI preparation by documenting field conditions and identifying inconsistencies.
- Support QA/QC documentation, punch-list items, and closeout materials. Material & Equipment Coordination
- Assist in identifying material needs, verifying deliveries, and ensuring long-lead items are forecasted.
- Conduct material takeoffs from drawings and support procurement planning.
- Track tool and equipment usage on-site and coordinate needs with field supervision.
Safety & Compliance
- Participate in jobsite safety walks, hazard identification, and toolbox talks.
- Ensure work areas are following electrical safety protocols and applicable NEC/NFPA requirements.
- Assist in preparing permit requests, inspection prep, and documentation for AHJs. Communication & Coordination
- Act as a field-level liaison between project managers, engineers, vendors, and field crews.
- Attend coordination and planning meetings (GC, subcontractors, and internal teams).
- Communicate installation progress, issues, and needs to PMs and field supervision.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s):
Field Execution & Quality:
- Accuracy of Field Documentation – Redlines, as-builts, and reports completed correctly.
- Deficiency Rate – Number of QA/QC issues related to layout, installation, or documentation errors.
- RFI Quality & Turnaround – Clarity of problem statements and timeliness of submissions
- Scheduling & Productivity:
- Work Package On-Time Delivery: Ability to meet schedule milestones.
- Look-Ahead Planning Effectiveness: Assist in forecasting material and manpower needs.
- Labor Productivity Support: Accuracy of takeoffs and coordination impacting labor efficiency.
Schedule & Productivity:
- Timeliness of Field Reports – Daily logs, progress updates, and tracking documentation.
- Material Readiness Accuracy – Forecasting accuracy and reduction of field delays due to missing materials.
- Support to Look-Ahead Planning – Contribution to accurate sequencing and manpower planning.
Safety Metrics:
- Participation in Safety Programs – Walks completed, hazard reports submitted.
- Compliance Performance – Proper application of NEC/NFPA standards and company safety policies.
Communication & Coordination:
- Responsiveness to Field Requests – Speed and effectiveness in providing drawings, details, or clarifications.
- Stakeholder Feedback – PM, foreman, and superintendent satisfaction with field support.
