Electrical Quality Control Specialist/Technician

Position Overview:
The Electrical Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all electrical components, systems, and installations comply with industry standards and project specifications. This role involves conducting inspections, performing tests, and documenting results to guarantee the highest level of quality and safety in electrical work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspection and Testing: Conduct detailed inspections and testing of electrical components, systems, and installations to ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and quality control activities. Generate detailed reports on findings, non-conformities, and corrective actions taken.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control processes and procedures to ensure consistent and high-quality electrical work. Identify and address any deviations from established standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and electricians to address quality issues and implement corrective actions. Provide guidance and support to ensure adherence to quality standards. Coordinate inspection readiness with foreman and superintendents.
  • Compliance: Stay updated with industry regulations, codes, and standards related to electrical work. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with these requirements.
  • Training: Assist in the training and development of team members on quality control procedures and best practices. Promote a culture of quality and safety within the organization.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify root causes of quality issues and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement effective solutions.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Number of inspections completed per schedule.
  • First-pass inspection approval rate.
  • Quantity of quality deficiencies identified and closed.
  • Accuracy and completeness of inspection documentation.
  • Compliance with quality reporting requirements.
  • Responsiveness to field and project team needs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Completed apprenticeship training program with 6-8+ years or a related field preferred. Relevant certifications in quality control or electrical work are a plus.
  • Certifications: Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), ISO 9001, OSHA 10, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, First Aid / CPR / AED, NETA Awareness or Testing Fundamentals, Basic Commissioning Training (Electrical Systems), Manufacturer Certifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years of experience with electrical construction/quality control, inspection, or a related role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical testing equipment and tools. Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and address quality issues effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to generate clear and comprehensive reports.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve quality-related issues efficiently.
  • Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Safety: OSHA 30 required
  • Computer skills: Must be proficient in Word, Excel, Microsoft 365 etc....

Working Conditions:

  • Office, site and field based with frequent site visits and inspections.
  • May require occasional travel to project sites.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including construction sites and outdoor settings.
